Grandmaster Ip Man

Grandmaster Ip Man is one of the most famous martial artist ever and recently a series of films have been made about his life. We are proud that these skills have been passed on in such a clear and detailed manner through our Wing Chun lineage.

Our Wing Chun lineage

Our lineage continues in the line of Grandmaster Ip Chun, the oldest son of Grandmaster Ip Man.

Grandmaster Ip Chun is the perfect example of a gentleman and a Grandmaster in the Art of Wing Chun kung fu. At the age of 94, Grandmaster Ip Chun is still able to train Chi Sau (a form of training with a partner) and can easily control people bigger and stronger than himself. That is the power of Wing Chun. By not using force against force you can still use this skill at an older age.

Our lineage continues via Grandmaster Tse, one of the most senior students of Grandmaster Ip Chun and one of the few people in the world who is directly certified by Grandmaster Ip Chun. Our Wing Chun school is part of the Tse Qigong Centre, founded by Grandmaster Tse. The Tse Qigong Centre allows us to follow seminars and residentials during the year with Grandmaster Tse. During these sessions we also train with many of our Wing Chun brothers and sisters of which many have a very high level of Wing Chun. This is truly a unique experience.

After Grandmaster Tse, our lineage continues via Master Moy, Chief instructor of the Tse Qigong Centre. I am honoured to have learned Wing Chun directly from Master Moy and I go back on a regular basis to train with Master Moy and Grandmaster Tse. It makes me happy that I am now teaching Wing Chun to the next generation in the Netherlands.

Wing Chun origins

Wing Chun Kuen (or Wing Chun Fist) is told to have been created by a Buddhist nun from the Shaolin Temple named Ng Moy. She was one of the 5 elders who escaped the burning of the Shaolin Temple.

The first student of Ng Moy was a young lady with the name Yim Wing Chun, from whom the skills takes its name. Ng Moy decided to teach Yim Wing Chun this Martial Art because Yim Wing Chun was being bullied by a local thug. Afterwards, a fight with this bandit was convincingly won by Yim Wing Chun.

Whether this story really happended we don’t know but we do know that Wing Chun kung fu provides very effective self-defence for men and women. Because Wing Chun emphasises not to use force against force it is also a Martial Art which can very effectively be used later in life.
